The Knicks Will Host The Sixers On Christmas Day

August 9, 2017

It’s official: the Philadelphia 76ers will visit Madison Square Garden to play the New York Knicks on Christmas Day.

“Rights To Ricky Sanchez” podcast host Spike Eskin first tweeted this on August 9, which has now been confirmed by Sixers beat writer Keith Pompey:

The Knicks often play on Christmas, the day seen as an unofficial opening day for the NBA. Presumably in rebuilding mode after the departure of Phil Jackson, New York still has Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis on the roster, though things could indeed change.

The Sixers are one of the most intriguing teams this coming season, with now three first overall picks on the roster, including rookie Markelle Fultz, 2016 first overall pick Ben Simmons and social media darling Joel Embiid. Both Simmons and Embiid have yet to play a regular season game together, drawing even more anticipation to see how this season turns out. Philly also acquired veteran shooter J.J. Redick via free agency this off-season.

The NBA will release its full 2017-18 schedule later in August.
