Don’t Forget R&B! Here Are Five Shows Happening This Summer

Today’s music scene is all about hip hop.

Hip hop is a culture all its own. But what about R&B — Rhythm and Blues in its purest form? What about Lenny Green, The Quiet Storm?? While the days of an undiluted R&B track might seem to be over, au contraire! This genre is not dead and current music by newer and seasoned artists continues to provide the rich listening experience we all know and love.

So! Call it R&B or call it Neo-soul! Here’s a shortlist of artists who will be live in concert this summer to serve up that just right sound:

Thursday, May 5 at 8pm: NE-YO with Jazmin Sullivan at Kings Theatre, Brooklyn, N.Y. | Buy Tickets

Part of the GRAMMY Park series, multiple GRAMMY Award winner NE-YO teams up with Philly’s Jazmin Sullivan for a concert in that beautiful theater on Flatbush Ave.

Just go to Afropunk 2016!! Soul listeners can indulge in a few nuggets among an always eclectic lineup, including Cee Lo Green, Janelle Monae and The Internet, the California-based band which continues to pick up traction for its R&B-rooted melodies and infusion of acid jazz tones.
