March 11, 2016
Red Bull Music Academy Festival’s eclectic mix for vinyl-loving music fans returns to NYC in April and May.
The annual festival which also makes stops in Paris and Tokyo, has announced its slate of performances, which includes a night of throwback freestyle jams from Louie Vega and Jellybean Benitez, a reunion of the Eddie Palmieri’s Harlem River Drive production and jam session of sonic jazz artists like Sun Ra Arkestra and Kamasi Washington. Tickets and locations are yet to be determined, but certainly the Brooklyn Record Fair will take place at Smorgasburg on May 14.
The festival contains a month’s worth of lectures and concerts celebrating creativity in music. During RBMA 2014, D’Angelo dropped some details about his Black Messiah album before its release later that December. This year, interviewer Nelson George will speak with Spike Lee about his career and latest projects.
Tickets and concert locations have not been finalized but click here for updates.
