Dahday’s Picks For Best Outdoor Concerts In The Bronx This Summer

June 27, 2016

You don’t have to just go to “The City” to enjoy a summer day. The Bronx is hot with things to do too.

The home of the House That Ruth Built (and Romeo Santos sold out a couple of years ago) also is the home of other parks hosting these dope outdoor shows this summer:

Tuesday, July 5 at 7pm: George Lamond and DJ Lucho at Crotona Park, Bronx, N.Y. | Free
Wednesday, July 6 at 7pm: Fat Joe and Tony Touch at Crotona Park, Bronx, N.Y. | Free
The Bronx hosts these back-to-back free shows perfect for those who loved 90s English language urban radio. If you were the freestyle type, check out Lamond on Tuesday; if you want to go “All The Way Up” with hip hop, peep that show with the Bronx native Fat Joe and Tony Toca himself.

Sunday, July 10 at 7pm: DJ Cool Herc and Little Shalimar at Crotona Park, Bronx, N.Y. | Free
Hip hop began in the Bronx and it began with DJ Kool Herc. For to get some classic hip hop culture vibes, head out to Crotona Park for a set with Herc, and stick around for a set from Run The Jewels producer Little Shalimar.

Tito Rojas picThursday, July 14 at 7pm: Tito Rojas at St. Mary’s Park, Bronx, N.Y. | Free
Salseros can enjoy this free concert of El Gallo Tito Rojas, who comes to the Bronx this July evening for a free performance. Worth every penny to see Rojas live, this is a great opportunity to enjoy this salsa hit-maker absolutely for free.

Saturday, July 30 at 2:30pm: La Casita at Pregones Theater, Bronx, N.Y. | Free
Take in progressive latin music and spoken word this July summer Saturday. Pregones Theater’s annual La Casita program this year includes artists like Puerto Rico’s Fernando Ferrer Cruz and Colombia’s Grupo Rebolu, in addition to poets Noel Quiñones, Moe Clark and Natalie Diaz.
