Sunday, July 27 at 3pm: Rock Steady Crew 37th Anniversary Concert at Rumsey Playfield, Central Park, New York, N.Y.

Rocksteady crew logoThe go-to concert for true Hip Hop heads, Crazylegs and the crew host a street-wise mix of old school artists and new, underground talents. This year the lineup includes Slick Rick, M.O.P., Das EFX, Large Professor and DJ Tony Touch as well as underground lyricists like Thirstin Howl the 3rd and Chris Rivers (A.K.A. Baby Pun). The show runs until 7pm. Old school head with kids – we have seen many a family hit up this show. Hip Hop Generation has children now!



Thursday, July 31 at 5pm: Horizon Foundation Sounds of the City: Eddie Palmieri Salsa Orchestra at NJPAC’s Theater Square, Newark, N.J.

Eddie Palmieri - black and white - at piano picOn July 31, NJPAC will be hosting famous salsero and jazz musician Eddie Palmieri as part of the Horizon Foundation Sounds of the City free concert series. The show will be opened by the Chembo Corniel Trio. If you miss Eddie this time, you won’t catch him in the area again for at least a whole year.

Sunday, August 17 at 7pm: WBLS 6th Annual R&B Fest featuring Musiq Soulchild at Rumsey Playfield, Central Park, New York, N.Y.

The Philly native has been pumping out hits for over a decade. R&B fans know how prolific a songwriter he is, last releasing an EP in 2012. For free, you can enjoy tons of great songs you know at this SummerStage event.

Friday, August 22 at 7am: Good Morning America’s 2014 “Fun In the Sun” Summer Concert Series with Robin Thicke at Rumsey Playfield, Central Park, New York, N.Y.
Good Morning America begins wrapping up its Summer Concert Series with its penultimate performance, featuring R&B singer Robin Thicke. It could be your last chance to show up on Good Morning America, and your last chance to catch Thicke live this year.

Friday, September 5 at 6am: 2014 Toyota Concert Series with Usher at Roosevelt Plaza, New York, N.Y.
Okay, September isn’t really summer, but autumn doesn’t technically begin until a few weeks after NBC’s TODAY show’s final performance of its 2014 Toyota Concert Series. Legendary singer Usher will be closing the series, and it will be one of the last live shows of the summer. NBC urges attendees to arrive by 6 a.m.
