Tuesday, July 12 at 6pm: Hudson Lowdown Festival with The Roots and Antibalas at Brookfield Plaza Waterfront Plaza, New York, N.Y. | Free
Opening night of this two-day festival features Philly’s world famous hip hop band The Roots and Brooklyn-based Afrobeat crew Antibalas. Sounds like a dope way to spend a Tuesday night after work.

Friday to Sunday, July 22-24 at TBD: Panorama Music Festival at Randall’s Island Park, New York, N.Y. | Buy Tickets
If you missed Governor’s Ball coming July 4th weekend, it’s ok. This slate might be better. On Friday, a dope mix of artists including SchoolBoy Q, DJ Khaled, Alabama Shakes and Major Lazer on Friday; Kendrick Lamar, Sufjan Stevens and Kaytranada on Saturday; and A$ap Rocky, Sia, Sza and Run The Jewels on Sunday. Same as other festivals, you can buy all weekend passes or hold out for individual day tickets as well.

Monday, July 25 at 5pm: Mass Appeal and wework present Live at the BBQ NYC at Rumsey Playfield (Central Park), New York, N.Y. | Buy Tickets
This SummerStage fundraiser highlights hip hop. Ty Dolla $ign, Machine Gun Kelly, Danny Brown and others will hit the stage. J Dilla’s Live Mixtape will feature Black Thought and J. Period. Nas hosts the show. Proceeds raise money for providing 100 free concerts in NYC each summer. Sounds like a plan, no?

Wednesday, July 27 at 7pm: AFROPUNK’s Girrrl Riot @ Lincoln Center at Damrosch Park, New York, N.Y. | Free
If you aren’t paying for AFROPUNK in Brooklyn this August, get a taste of the alternative black culture concert at this free Lincoln Center Out of Doors event. The theme on this one is Girl Power with artists Alice Smith, the VeeVees and Sate.

Friday, September 2 at 5am: Citi Concert Series on TODAY at TODAY Plaza (48th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues), New York, N.Y. | Free
The most popular free summer concert in America ends its 2016 season with Alicia Keys, who is out with new music. Fans of Keys who want to be there live, make sure you hustle to 30 Rock in the 4:30am range so that you are in a good spot to enjoy the show.
