Cuban National Team To Play In N.J. This June

The Tampa Bay Rays face the Cuban National Team in Havana Tuesday, March 22, But thankfully, area baseball fans won’t have to travel to Cuba if they want to see the team in person.

Cuban National Team picThe independent Can-Am League has struck a deal with Cuban baseball officials to join the league in a 19-game schedule, culminating in three series against area minor league clubs: the Sussex County (N.J.) Miners June 21-23; the Rockland (N.Y.) Boulders June 24-26; and the New Jersey (Montclair, N.J.) Jackals 28-30.

Though fans cannot assume the same elite players will take part in all of these ballgames – some players may be held back or defect between now and then – baseball fans still can enjoy seeing some of the best international and MLB prospects today up close and personal for less than $15 per ticket.

The last time an MLB team hosted the Cuban National Team was in 1999 against the Baltimore Orioles,
