Inspired by the true-life experience of its star, George Takei (“Star Trek,” “Heroes”), Allegiance tells one family’s multi-generational tale of hope and perseverance. A mysterious envelope leads Sam Kimura (Takei) back 60 years to a time when his younger self, played by Telly Leung (Godspell, “Glee”), and his sister Kei, played by Tony Award-winner Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon, Mulan), become adversaries trying to save their family from the wrongful imprisonment of Japanese Americans during World War II. Sam enlists in the U.S. Army to prove the Kimuras’ loyalty, while Kei joins those resisting the draft and fights for the rights of her people. Their journeys take them from the lush California heartland to the prairies of Wyoming to the fields of Western Europe and seemingly tear them apart forever. But as the long-lost envelope’s contents unlock the memories of the past, Sam discovers that it is never too late to open your heart to forgiveness, joy, and the redemptive power of love.
