This borough serves as host to some events synonymous with its population’s cultures but also stages some newer outdoor concerts that you may not have heard of. Let us help you learn more. Here is our favorite outdoor concerts – some free and some not – happening in BK this summer.
July 8: AfroLatino Festival at Bed-Stuy Restoration Plaza, Brooklyn, N.Y. | Buy Tickets
Celebrating the Black diaspora in Latin America through music, this festival features musicians, rappers and DJs will fill the air with the sounds of Latin American’s Black music, such as dominicanas Millie Quezada and Amara La Negra and Puerto Rico’s Calma Carmona.
The 13th annual event culminates in a finale concert featuring DMX leading a Ruff Ryders reunion of sorts with The Lox, Jadakiss, Styles P and Sheek Louch. Mack Wilds and Stretch and Bobbito will be part of the festival this year as well.

One of America’s favorite day time talk show hosts leads a celebration of New York and New Jersey hip hop with Bronx’s finest Fat Joe and Remy Ma, the legendary Big Daddy Kane, Jersey’s Naughty By Nature and dancehall star Charly Black.

Rock and soul listeners can indulge in this festival with its always eclectic lineup, including Soul II Soul, KING, Raphael Saadiq, Anderson .Paak, Willow Smith, SZA, Gary Clark, Jr., Thundercat, Macy Gray and Michael Kiwanuka, among many others.

A time-honored highlight of New York City’s cultural parade season, the annual carnival culminates on Monday after a weekend’s worth of concerts from the hottest artists of soca, reggae and dancehall music.
