Based on Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel and Steven Spielberg’s Oscar-nominated film, THE COLOR PURPLE first came to Broadway 10 years ago. In 2013, Tony Award-winning director John Doyle created this new explosive staging of the timeless musical at London’s esteemed Menier Chocolate Factory theatre. Now Jennifer Hudson, as the sultry lounge singer Shug Avery, will lead an extraordinary company, as THE COLOR PURPLE comes home to Broadway.
